OK I am a little amazed at the battery life on the Mark II.
I am shooting now for the third week.
Now, I am not using it hard every day. But, I am shooting it a lot.
If anyone is pondering wether or not to buy a back-up battery, go ahead. But you will not be using it that often...

I bought an extra battery and still haven't installed it. It is amazing. I'll continue to carry it on general principals, but barring outright battery failure, I can't conceive of a situation where I'll need them both in the same day.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I too bought a couple of those "eforcity special"

ebay and can never get to use them to see how well they work. The original battery easily lasts a day of constant shooting for me and my 10D. Are there any changes made in the MkII that allow even better battery life?

It's an amazing battery. I bought an extra one when I purchased the camera but, like you guys, probably will never use it. Before I learned what "refresh" meant on the charging unit I conditioned the battery the old fashioned way. I left the camera on without automatic shutoff disabled and the LCD displaying an image. It took about 3 complete days to run out of power.

I too am not sure why I purchased that second battery. What a wonderful problem. Actually, I guess it is a problem.....the REAL JOB does not allow enough free time to wear the battery out!
