I am going to be shooting informal portraits and some low-end wedding packages, and am really torn between the Rebel and the 10D. . . help!

Do you need the extra features the 10D offers?

If in doubt, I shut up...

Gear: 40D, 12-24mm AT-X Pro, 17-85mm, Sigma 150mm Macro Sigma 100-300 F4, 550EX, other stuff that probably helps me on my way.

If you're strapped for cash, I would say go for the Rebel, a good glass and an external flash.............You can probably get all for the price of a 10D.

If you have cash..........then by all means go for the 10D. It is a better camera.

I would suggest that anything you are doing for amateur work, the Digital Rebel should be sufficient. Anything you are doing professionally, the 10D might be a better choice, but not by much.
