Clark's Grebes (a variety of the Western Grebe)

I went to a couple of wildlife refuges on Saturday and it was kinda "slim pickin's." I did find some Clark's and Western Grebes, that were willing to give me a few shots before they dove and swam out of cameral range.. Here's a few shots of Clark's Grebes that I was able to get close unough to with my 500 mm lens.

Great shots LD. I really like the two headed grebe. I seem to recall that the AOU has made Clark's Grebe a seperate species from the Western Grebe.

Thanks, Rubberhead.....I wasn't aware of the fact that the Clark's Grebe is now a separate species. I learned something today.

Wonderful set Mike. Slim Pickins or not, it would have made my week to get shots like that. I have to go with the three chicks getting a ride as my favorite although I looked a long time at the one above that.

Very nice shots of this beautiful grebe. I have only seen Western Grebes, you are in a great area! The double-header is my favourite here but those chicks are soooo adorable as well!
