Hi Guys,

Well no i'm not looking for any actual underwater housing, but something to make my Camera (Canon a710IS) weather resistant at beaches, rain or snow...
I checked the offically reccomended underwater housing for the camera, the WP-DC6 and like offical things, its expensive, and costs nearly as much as the camera

But I've also found cheap Waterproof cases selling on eBay for about 30$ like these

So wanted to know, if anyone here has any experience with these...are these things any good...?

BTW here's the ebay listing for reference...

never used these, but if you're just looking for a way to carry your camera without worry of sand/water/whatever else, get a drybag from a canoe/kayak/camping store for less than 20 dollars.

sometimes you get what you actually pay for. but i think that will do the job since you just want it to be weather resistant. goodluck!

not carry, but use it too at the beach or in snow...
This product seems it would do the job, but using buttons on top of the camera may be problematic and how good the len cover really is...so that's why I was looking for opinions...
Guess its not very popular here.....we have too many rich people around

Not rich, just a bit wise. Check out swim/scuba shops to see what bags the recommend for underwater/beach area. I prefer to protect my camera in a underwater enclosure designed for it because I'd rather not have to replace a camera due to my frugalness. But as folks do say, you get what you pay for. But check around and see what others recommend.

When spray is an issue (like on small boats), I use the cheap route of a large ziplock bag, with hole cut for lens, and duct tape to attach bag to lens. I've taken many a wave/spray on the filter-protected lense, where camera stayed dry.
Use a kayaking dry bag to store the camera when not in use. When in use, only use ziploc bag protection if there is spray.
Great cheap disposable spray cover, but when things get really wet, the camera gets put away.
Protection from blowing sand by keeping camera inside jacket or in pack between shots.

As long as you don't actually take it in the water you will probably be ok. I wouldn't take any camera out in the water sealed in a $30 Ebay ziplock. If you want another alternative, take a look at the EwaMarine line of soft bags. Probably more than $30, but less than the Canon hard case.

I had one , hard to get the HP 612 in it . I didn't like it and gave it away to relative in Mexico . It protects camera , BUT buttons are hard to use , next to impossible to zoom .
You will either love it or hate it- I just didn't like it .
So give up one pizza and try one . Post what you think of it

Hmm...just as I thought, the top buttons aren't easy to use, but then how would I press the photo shoot button, its also on the top ??

Yeah, yeah it would have been a pizza if I'd been in the US...but here it would cost like 5 pizzas (as shipped internationally) :p ..

Will try to find out more ewa marine though, thanx for the suggestion..
