What do you men wear?

I am shooting my first wedding, and one of the many questions I have is what to wear.

Do you wedding photographers normally wear a suit? Or is a shirt and tie enough, to be more comforable, or do you go all out and wear cargo shorts and a photo vest?

Black pants, comfortable black shoes and a (usually) black shirt. No tie or suit for me (unless it is requested, then I would consider it).

Make sure that you have a change of everything. You don't want to go around with busted pants, wet shoes, etc.

Yep pretty much the same, and great advice about having a change of clothes just incase!

If the B&G request a suit, I will go all out. Typically I wear a button down shirt, kahki (sp?) pants, and shoes... Nuetral colors. I lost the tie this year. It just gets in the way too much! I'm on the ground, and in 1000 different positions... too much clothing just gets in my way.

I'm thinking about shooting buck naked next year :D

You don't want to take attention away from the B&G, do you?

I tried so hard to comback with something "tasteful," but just gave up on it. ;)

Dark grey trousers, dark brown shoes, black long sleeved or short sleeved button down collared shirt with our own names and boundless photos stitched on the the front.

Cant imagine wearing a tie and defintely not a jacket, I am just about at melting point anyway with carrying gear, up and down ladders, laid on the floor, moving to get in front or behind people for shots ..... we had a bridesmaid feint in a church 1 week ago and if I had been forced to wear a jacket and tie I reckon I would been on the floor before her!

How about "Oh, I've got a POTN strap for that too!"

Dang...it had to be tasteful....?

I do the black thing too - but I add a black jacket most weddings (unless it's really hot). Gives me something to lay on the ground or on a rock wall so I can get the bride to sit or lay down!

I buy a $99 black suit at the beginning of every season, and plan to destroy it by the end...though my current suit (from Target no less) has lasted a season and a half and is still going strong!

Brownish cotton pants. White linen button down t shirt. (It keeps me cool)

I don't know how you can do black. When the sun is out I would fry. My black hair is bad enough. Are you guys shooting in the arctic or something? ;)

I live in Canada. There is no sun, only snow. You should know this by now! :p

I guess there is also room to carry a third camera if desired ;) It does have potential.

I live in the UK .. I remember vaguely what the sun looks like and when I make comments like "it was a real scorcher here this weekend" it means it crept over 70 and stopped raining for a few mins

:D

Love the sound of the temps in the UK, but obviously could do without the rain (I hate the heat.) If it's cooler, I will dress in a suit for a little warmth, then loose the jacket if it heats up.
