As part of my trip around a few places recently I stopped off in Cornwall, mainly to see my sister graduate but also to take a few snaps. Below are my faves but the whole album from the two weeks (Le Mans, Cornwall and Crosby) can be seen here:- Clicky (external link)

The last one's my dad and my sister, first time the family's been together for over a year.

As before, comments welcome.

Cheers, Dave.

3 and 4 are quite nice, although 3 is a tad dark. Nice shots all around.

I think #3 is the best. It is a little dark (I notice you don't have Image Editing OK on and after over 850 posts that must be deliberate - so I'll not show you my edit!)

The image editing thing is not a deliberate nasty Dave thing, just kinda ended up leaving it like that, dunno kinda like knowing my growth is a personal thing. But just this once, go for it if you've edited it. I'd be keen to see your take on it, I've left it dark as when I was there it was a horrible flat light, sun gone down and a dim gloomy bay. I'd like to think that if I can be pretentious enough to have an 'ethos' regarding my shots, it's that I don't like altering them from what was there at the time. Very rarely crop, minimal skin smoothing, minimal alteration of what I actually saw.

But go for it.

Cheers, Dave.

Dave , that 4th one though a bit over exposed in the highlights, looks like a great spot. Main thing is you had a good time by the looks of it.

Erm, bearing in mind that the original comment was that the image was too dark, isn't your edit a little darker? Certainly seems it here.

Re:no 4, I think we're back to the monitor thing. Mine are due a calibration, but the one I'm currently on is quite light and it doesn't seem blown out in the highlights. But hey ho, all is good. Thanks for the comments guys.

Cheers, Dave.

The white water is lighter, the rocks are a darker. I think it's more vibrant now. Anyway, was just a suggestion.

I tried to take some similar shots last time I was down in Cornwall. I'd just bought the 70-200, so wanted to play with that, but I could make it stop sucking light in in order to get a slow shutter speed until it was way past sunset. ISO100, f32, pointing away from the sun it still wouldn't let me shoot slower than about 1/8s. Any suggestons anyone?

I have final took the plunge as I am wanting consistency in what is on my monitor, as pics are all over the place. Thanks
