I read so many missleading information about the 10-17 Tokina on the Mark III (or 1.3x in General) that I thought I should post a couple of pictures to demonstrate that it does work.... at 12mm and higher ....
Maybe someone will be courageous enough to do something with a single subject at all focal lengths ?

But for now, here is a mix of what this lens can do:

Thanks for posting these,. (and you have a PM too ) :)

The Vignette in the 10mm pic looks possibly hood induced? (or I should say hood contributed to it..)

is this at all Hood related? or was there no hood mounted?

thanks!

Great pics too, all of them :)

I agree that these are great pics. Excellent lens, this little Tokina!

It has a fixed hood, which does cause vignettign on APS-H and FF at the shorter FLs. If you remove that, which some people do, you get similar vignetting on FF and I assume also on APS-H to the vignetting of a circular fisheye on APS-C, at the shorter FLs, that is.

Removing the hood is called "shaving", it is a non-reversible surgical operation for the not-so-faint of heart, especially as the fixed hood is metal and part of the lens fitting. Advantage for VR, panorama and sports shooters is that the Tokina manages 194 degrees diagonal on a 5D without the hood :).

At 12-13 mm on APS-H it has a 180 degree diagonal AoV, and at about 15 mm on FF. Although this lens was designed for APS-C, you can actually use it on all formats :).

Kind regards, Wim

WOW. I wish I'd known this a few days ago. I was under the impression that this lens would NOT work on the MKIII and bought a 14mm prime instead...these are great shots.

Thanks for the feeback (keep them coming !)

one of the comments makes me feel real guilty though, some of those pictures are not 100% crop which is missleading. This was not my intention to do so of course and this was not meant to be a 'scientific' test. That said, it would have a better value if they were all 100% crops. But for some reason, I could not find any real samples, so here we go :-)

It does not remove the fact that this lens works fine above 12mm :-)
Shots were made at Sensation White, Sensation Black and indeed, Dance Valley. All events occured during the last 8 days.

agree with all the above, nice shots and they demonstrate very well the kind of photos to expect with this lens on a 1D. I think the rocker with the green hair in particular is a very creative shot from an unusual angle -- good work.

another example of this lens on a 1D, with my comments if you care to read more... >>>click<<<
