how do you do panning ? I can't do it with my XTi. The background is not blurred and if I use slow shutter, then everything is blurry ! Even with AI Focus or AI Servo

Erm, practice. These were with the 70-200 at 4am after a few beers, and at ISO1600 and 1/30 sec. The trick is to get the shutter speed down for a blur and then practice at keeping the car in the viewfinder as you pan. Don't stop panning once the shutter's pressed, follow through with the movement.
