CDS and I went out Saturday for some shooting in and around Newport, RI and Bristol. He drove most of the way, which was good because I kept taking rights for no reason, hitting curbs, and yelling at tourists from Massachusetts. (Hey, wait a second...)

It was somewhat humorous when he filled the gas tank of my Crown Victoria. It was a little different from his Toyota - he blew a month's gas budget filling my beast. But I did buy him a coffee....

Anyway, I was fairly bummed at the number of shots I managed to screw up. The only ones I didn't screw up weren't worth taking. So, for next time, are any of these worthwhile, or just too FUBAR for consumption?

Had to use a bit of cloning on this one, but I couldn't remove the big boat getting in the way of the bridge, so you'll have to use some imagination about the middle part.

I had high hopes for this one until I saw it. I think the next camera should beep after blown-out shots for those times you're too busy to look at the blinkie highlights. And if you keep blowing highlights, the camera should just shut itself off out of mercy.

He tried to run towards a competent photographer, but I still got him. Gotta love the ability to handhold a 100-400.

If I manage to overcome my lack of control over my camera, did I catch anything in these shots? What if I promise to study things like Exposure and Depth of Field? Is there hope for me next time? How about if I let CDS drive the whole way?

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I didn't put a ton of viewing into those... but the first one seems like it could be a nice shot of the sailboat. Maybe clone out the bridge and have a good shot of the boat?
