In DPP batch process, there is a check box for "embed ICC profile". What exactly is this and what do you get in you check or uncheck this box?

I believe ICC profile contains the color calibration information for printers so you can get the colors you see on the prints you make.

I have mine calibrated with Huey Pantone, so I select that and I've been happy with the consistency of the colors I get when I make prints off my printer at home.

Hi Bob,

Check it, check it, check it. IMO, it shouldn't even be a user option.

The ICC profile is the "colour description" of the colours in your file. Your camera probably has a choice of colour spaces - either sRGB or Adobe RGB. One is brighter than the other (I'm not suggesting one is better than the other, I'm just saying they're different). If you don't embed that profile in your workflow, your monitor & printer won't be able to accurately render the colours in your files. They just have to guess, and the results can be yuck!

Think of the language metaphor ... If somebody wrote you a letter in a foreign language, and you knew it was Spanish, you could get a Spanish-English dictionary from the library and translate it.

But if you didn't know what language it was ... you'd have a hard time translating that letter!

Check it.
Also have a read in the link from my sig, to see how to set the rest of the settings in DPP and PS.

Damo's explanation isn't excactely scientific, but it brings the point accross ;)
