Nice colour- shame about the subject

Sorry- had trouble thinking of a suitable title.
Small fly Geomyza tripunctata together with what I think are parasitic mites rather than hitch hikers, but am still trying to confirm this. As is probably obvious- again spotted when i was down in the grass doing dewdrop refractions.

What an infestation on that ol Fly, if those Mites moved any further down you cold be forgiven in thinking it was in desperate need of some Preparation H, my eyes are watering just thinking about it

Adrian- whilst I have lots of time (remember I'm retired) this shot didn't take any time at all- just down on all fours looking for dewdrop groups- spot the fly on a blade of grass near a dewdrop- put flower behind it and shoot away- total time about 1 minute for the shooting- toakes longer to focus stack the result though .

@Mark, I don't think red spider mites take anything from their host except a ride to a new location. But it must weigh it down all the same.

James would have been shooting f8-F11, ISO100/200, 1/200th M mode with ETTL flash +1 FEC on a 430ex, using an MPE-65 lens between 2-3:1 magnification. The pictures are focus stacked though for greater DOF and I placed a flower behind the fly/dewdrop.
