I saw one at our local Best Buy in a new Digital SLR display. I couldn't believe how trashed the camera was. Anyone considering purchasing the display model better beware. I don't care how big a discount or warranty you get, it can't be worth it. What was even more bizarre was the 30D was locked up in a display case.

They probably that 30 was a bigger number so it must be a better camera

I was checking the 5D at our local best buy and was playing with it...changed the CF4-3...to check how the 5D AF react buy pressing *...i was amazed how the 5D responds..anyway one of the employee just kind of grabbed the 5D and gave it to the customer who was shopping for camera and unfortunately didn't have chance to change the camera setting...that means that when customer tried to press the shutter halfway, it didn't focus, then the employee switched the lens AF on and off..and still same...then he changed the lens...of course still wont focus...I just smiled and left...

B&H is selling the 5D body only for $2595...they also have a $100 or $150 in-store rebate (didn't check into it, but they usually tie it to the purchase of something else, such as a printer). I had already recently picked up a mint used, low-mileage 5D for $2100...I should have my hands on it this coming Thursday. :D

That's very true, but we're talking with a 24-105L IS with it as a package, and not even $750 for a 24-105 is pretty darn good. That rebate is tied to a printer, by the way. You have to spend $3-400 more to save $100. Nah. ;-)a

That's what he gets for being a grabby hands... :P They probably sent it back to Canon as defective...hahahaha

I was at Best Buy checking out the 5D tonight, and I did the exact same thing. It's quiet ironic that you posted while I was at Best Buy. Of course, the employee had no idea what was wrong. Great times.

my local best buy has also carried the 5D since it was out. BUT, they never did put on the 24-105 until recently, as the only time i ever saw the 5D with a lens on it was the last time i went. usually it just sat there without a body.

it was quite refreshing to see it with some nice glass on there though haha

btw... nice little prank with the C.Fn hahahaha

what kills me is, they superglued sunpak / quantanaray UV filters to L glass...

Well, you gotta go with the best in the business, right? I'm surprised the lens still autofocuses seeing as it's glued to the body really well.

Take off the lens and RUN!

People do that. The salesman when i was just looking at what cameras they had, said one of the cameras (which was missing from its stand) was taken. Pretty sad how they don't watch those real cameras close enough that someone was able to sneak one out.

A long time ago my friend was at a store and told me that this woman picking between the D60(when it was in the 2k area) and 10D picked the D60 because "it had a bigger number, so its better".

my local best buy doesn't put CF cards in the cameras so nothing ever gets stored :(

they superglue filters to the lenses and lenses to the bodies? wow... i don't think my best buy does that either. from what i remember seeing, i don't think there are filters on them, and they have this funny little contraption that prevents the lens from being removed from the body, i don't think anything is glued on though

I'll never purchase from Best Buy. There prices are outrageous. I'll go B&H all the way in the near future.
