if you call those major apps, then great for you . Just like you I am giving my opinion and find the OS useless. But you dont good for you. Don't come bickering at me for telling my opinion though....

I'd like to use linux more... but lack of decent, easy to find and use color-management seems to me to be a major drawback. Also it was a weeklong chore to try to get my wireless card working in my laptop (THEN I replaced my hard-drive with a larger one, and just didn't feel like going through that hassle of figuring it out again.)
It's fun to play around with though... I'd definately do a dual-boot system to get the hang of it though... there's just too many apps I use in windows to get rid of it.
(BTW: I think OpenOffice is one of the great open-source apps... can read and write to MS office formats easily, and without cost of MS's bloated app; first time I ever heard of it was through linux several years ago.)
