I read the article twice, not sure, 100% if this helps, but can't hurt!!! I will also now go to USA Canon and see what they say and post that link here also.

When it is available, I suspect this is where we will find it and down load it. I will keep checking here to see if they have posted the new firmware. As of this edit, no luck.

Looks like just updates for the Utilities" but not sure if they are even new but they are more than a week or two old, so nothing new from what I see. The articles headline does say firmware, but ???

May be vaporware, though one poster on Fred Miranda's site stated that Canon is returning his camera with firmware version 1.0.9. I believe that 1.0.8 is the known latest version.

He also noted that Canon service told him that it would be a month before the new firmware version was available on the web.

The poster that spoke of the updated firmware on naturescapes has gotten his two "updated" bodies back and is headed to Africa (lucky man) to use them. He says that all new bodies being shipped will have the updated firmware.

Shoot not for I am only the messenger.

I am beginning to think after that reading thread that it IS true: 1.0.9 will be web posted at the end of this month.

-----------

EDIT: Just saw This:

Ok I have the firmware uploaded to my camera, I got it done at the Canon Service Centre at Borehamwood.

Ver 1.0.9

They couldn’t tell me what changes it made – as they aren’t sure. They only got the file with the instruction for any MkIII in for service to do an automatic update yesterday. It will be uploaded at the end of the month(july) to Canon’s web servers.

It didn’t reset my config back to default either.

Mark III 1.0.9 firmware - post your results please

Let's try to keep under one thread different people's experience with the new 1.0.9 firmware.

So far it seems the only way to get it is through informed CPS representatives, nothing to download yet.

So:

Where did you have your MKIII updated: Location XX
Are you a CPS member ?: Y/N
How long did they keep your camera for: XX hours / XX day(s)

Feedback after the update, what has changed and how does it feel:

XXXXX

Yes, lets :)

Merged with existing sticky thread from yesterday.

As I understand it, currently 1.09 is a rumor still?
So all this is based on net talk, nothing from Canon.

Pictures like that do not imply fact to me.. but it is convincing.
Since it's not available though, not much else to discuss.
I can tell you this, I am certainly looking forward to trying the first update that is available.

Because maybe Canon isn't 100% certain it is the correct answer yet so it is applied to cameras returned with the AF issue only.....controlled release / repair.

Who knows what they did. If it de-tunes the AF somehow you may not want .09.

Wouldn't you rather have 1.1 with all the bunly goodness?

What makes you think the chipset in your camera would work with 1.0.9?

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.
