Hi John;

Are you running an older (un-supported) opsys?

Did you verify the system requirements for the upgrade?

Sounds as if the original installer has been corrupted, deleted or had a registry entry changed/deleted.
The simple way round this is to uninstall all the Canon software, reinstall from the original disks and then update everything.
If the software won't uninstall then you need to clear the Canon installers from your system - go the the Microsoft website and look for, and download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. When you run this look for the Canon software in the list and clear the installers for this. Then reinstall from your original disks and update after that.
If that doesn't work then you need to create some registry keys which will allow the updates to install but I'd hesitate to point you in that direction as messing with the registry can seriously damage WinXP; to the point of making it unbootable..............

Are you trying to jump from one version over another, i.e. version 1.0 to 1.2 bypassing 1.1

As far as I can remember when I used to use DPP this always caused a problem and I had to upgrade through the series logically. And some versions of the software require other versions i.e. you must update DPP before updating EOS Utility.

Hope this helps

I did update dpp first anke....but....nothing.....i dont think though that it needs to go from 1 to 2 and then to 3 for example...as the version 3 includes no 1 & 2...i think that paul is correct...i ll try that....and ill see...

Hi John;

Before you start messing with uninstall & the registry... I suggest you check any firewalls first.

It won't be the first time that my firewall has prevented an update without "allowing" it within the firewall parameters...

Good luck;

Cheers;

Lee

bannedPermanent ban

Uninstall, reinstall original version that came on CD, update to the newer, downloaded version.
If that doesn’t work, cleaning the Registry as suggested above, definitely will.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.
