And oficial launch over here of the 40D September, 6, 2007.

Hmmm, I doubt that Canon would let the 5D get 3 years old without a replacement. One of their competitors would probably release a competing product before then.

So far they havn't, though. A new model will probably not be released until they see a drop in sales for the 5D. That will happen when the prosumer segment think the MKI is getting long in the tooth and as long as there's no competition to beat it (either by other Canon models or by competitors) it's no hurry.

I'm hearing 9-12 to 9-15 is when it goes on sale.

The information I have is the 40D comes out August 20th-21st, 5D follows later, and lastly the 1DS Mark III. All three this fall.

I'm occasionally searching for 40D on Amazon to see when it shows up for preorder (probably after the info release). I'm still amused about the second search result each time.

Nah I heard from a reliable source the 5DMII and the 1DsMIII will both be announced together on April 1, 2008... My source also said that they will be raffling off 10 of each body w/ matching set of L lenses. My source also told me that they'll be announcing soon the site to register for the raffle.
