Ah, like a lottery ticket in other words. Thank you! Another word added to my meager vocabulary!

Like a lottery ticket except on a smaller scale. Say some ladies want to buy a new coffee pot for the senior citizen's centre. They make a quilt and sell raffle tickets for a couple of dollars each. They then draw a ticket to find out who gets the quilt, use the money to buy a coffee pot and get a few bottles of gin with the excess cash. Everybody ends up happy.

I'm occasionally searching for 40D on Amazon to see when it shows up for preorder (probably after the info release). I'm still amused about the second search result each time.

For that the 38DD will be enough of an upgrade for me.

Like many who have posted I also am looking forward to the 40D (or whatever it will be called) but I do find the speculation just winds folk up!

Those that know when the new models are due are not saying because if this runs true to course then we will immediately on the official date see the independant reviews e.g. dpreview, imaging-resource etc. Why! because they have all signed NDAs. Likewise the stores will then have the pre order offers for the deliveries possible up to 6 weeks after the date depending on the local market.

Canon in common with all such manufacturers protects its commercial privacy about new releases, so all 'claims' to know are just speculation. As for semi official "leaks", well if that were the case the 40D would have been here by now, wouldn't it?

Lets all be patient and read the reviews when they are posted.

Chill out time ;)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

interesting. IIRC back when the 30D came out, they did not ravage pricing to clear 20D stock out. In fact, canon continued to supply them for several months before finally discontinuing them. Perhaps this bodes well for the theory that it will be a MUCH improved 20D being released this time, instead of a 20Dm3? I hate to get too pumped up, but a 40D with weather sealing, improved AI servo, 14bit raw, and much larger burst depth would definitely get my christmas dollars - or at least $1500 of them.

Nah I heard from a reliable source the 5DMII and the 1DsMIII will both be announced together on April 1, 2008... My source also said that they will be raffling off 10 of each body w/ matching set of L lenses. My source also told me that they'll be announcing soon the site to register for the raffle.

Is this a joke?

Well I guess this is fine IF they don't announce them this fall like the rumors say! I really don't care personally though as it's the 40D that I want!

But, I really do love raffles, especially for those prizes. If it does happen next April I'll be in it I hope!:D:D:D
