Voted no. I don't think a company should be rewarded with sales until they ship a product that works as intended.

Although I dont disagree with you, but now days if this was the case nothing would ever get released, and if it did, it would be a lot more expensive, hell buy some latest computers equipment, of worse still play the latest online PC game, in Comparison I would say Canon has done pretty well, it is only a minority that has had a so called problem, and then if you only seem to use the MK3 in a certain way.
I recall buying the latest PC video board for editing for like £600-00 8 odd yrs ago so prob nr £1k in todays terms, after weeks of trying to get it to work it turns out they released it knowing it would not even be fully PC compatible, and said it would only work on certain MB's, they would not refund, and told me I needed to upgrade HW on computer :(. I still have it to this day in a box under desk, never been used, RULE NO 1 never buy anything just released, We all still break it,

you already have 3 1D bodies and practically every L Jim :P

The ISO 6400 is appealing, but not enough to warrant trading two for one at this point. I have learned the hard way that lenses are a far better way to go when making large purchases

I own one, love it and knowing what I know, I'm still trying to convince my husband that he needs one. :)

Hold on a sec, is this the same Perma that was upset at the "Gear Heads" when the MIII was first released, I remember you saying you were not interestd in one and ridiculing the rest of us for talking about it in length on the Tupper Chat

And consumers have bought into this as the truth. That is the sad aspect of such an argument. Hardware manufacturers have watched software designers get away with this sham for years and now make it part of their design process/planning as well. Business as usual. Consumers could put a stop to it by simply refusing to buy a product (whether hardware or software) that doesn't perform as promised. Consumer protection laws need to be updated to start covering the abuses that have been perpetrated by software companies and have crept into routine practices by hardware manufacturers.

Hehe, yes. On a very similar topic. I was much nicer here though, I didn't refer to Mk III purchasers as "fools". I am just strongly of the opinion that Canon (and other manufacturers) should 'play nice' with consumers and that consumers need to take a firmer stance to encourage manufacturers along those lines. Sorry to preach/proselytize. My medication is kicking in, I'll behave now.

don't get me wrong, i do agree with you and except for the "fools" part, i also think that you said everything in a very clear and consice way. trust me, after dealing with Creative Lab (do a search on the creative forum for windows Vista), i think that Canon is a saint even when they shipped camera's that had problems but i do see your point and agree that if we as consumers let companies get away with this sort of crap, we are all going to lose in the end.

Ridicule is a strong word Cat. This is the same person who was bored to death by all the gear talk though, yes. ;)

and I would still encourage anyone who wants one to not be afraid of the rampant internet spew about the bad things on the camera. If there are any they'll be fixed and it's one fine camera.

Heh, yeah ... I was a trifle overheated at that point in my post. I was on a roll and left it in. I feel that 'ForestCat4' stated things from the best viewpoint in that thread (at least so far). A pro (to whom the Mk III body is being marketed) shouldn't have to test a body for a few thousand shutter cycles to determine if their body has such issues. Particularly if the issue was cited by Canon's own testers in prerelease. I'm not a pro, so I failed to take that aspect of things into proper consideration. Anyway, I hope things get worked out for Mk III buyers. I'm off to tilt at windmills. :)

I voted yes. After recently having a go with a mates Mklln at Silversone. Had far more keepers. Didn't realise my 20D had that much of a shutter lag until then.
