Uhh...yes I have bought mine and yes I do believe it has some AF issues. Especially tracking fast moving objects in AI Servo. Keeper rate is about 3 out of 10. Wish Canon would post the firmware update. If they are installing it at the service centers, I don't understand why not go ahead and post it on the web. Other than that It is an awesome camera.......image quality is phenominal, when you get one in focus.

I talked directly to Canon twice this week. Both tech reps stated the firmware update will be available by the end of the month on the Canon website. The fix it has is for high contrast background issues in AI Servo mode....that won't fix my issue....but it does fix some Chinese menu text problems! whew...that was really bugging me. :)

Personally I think you're jumping ship way too early. You'll be back... ;)

Then you'll have to pay shipping and tax and all that all over again. Instead of shooting license plates wide open, go shoot some real shots and play with the settings a bit. I think you'll be surprised. I have read quite a few post around the net from people that took the time are now thrilled with their cameras. It's just going to be a firmware thing anyway. Heck, you might just get the same camera back! j/k

Anyway, do what ya gotta do. I am going out this weekend shooting boats again! Woohoo!!!

Ya know...I can't win the lottery to save my life, but I bet I would get my camera back if I re-ordered. I agree I need to shoot real world with it....my real world is ISO 1600+ and every peice of glass wide open at gymnastics events that start in October. So am doing silly tests to try and simulate.

Ya know what...you have a great point. I am going to go to my daughters gymnastics practice on Monday and shoot it there....thanks for the kick in the head....man I am so dense sometimes.

GBRandy, I don't know if this link has been posted before, if so, I apologise, but it might be useful.

I need to not spend any money right now. In the market for a house and new car, so the Mark III is not an option at the moment. When the dust settles a bit I'll trade up to it at some point. The 1D2N is holding up great.

Hey Randy (markm here from the cafe),

I voted yes, as I am on the list at my local shop. I have faith that by the time I am called, if the camera does have a problem, it will be fixed in less time than I am spending on the list. To me, this is something that Canon wants resolved ASAP. I don't mind shooting the Fuji S5 Pro while I wait, it is a good camera.

Peace
Mark
