Hi guys.... I went out for birds and came back with bugs I shot these with my 1D 4 mega pixel body, with 100-400 and 1.4 TC handheld. auto focus mode.. I was shocked to see how well focused they were.... Wish my macro lenses did as well in auto focus. I would say not to shabby considering the hardware. I hope you like them too.... Take care

Simply amazing. I can't get over how smooth the old 1D is. Really incredible IQ, and great shots of the bugs too. :)

Thanks a lot Allan, I do love the bokeh the 100-400 produces..... The colors are a combination of the water of the pond, and obviously the plant leaves and bugs :) I was pleasantly surprised at how well this setup did.... Thanks man.... I appreciate you taking a look, and for the nice comment on these.... I guess I will back off once in a while now that I know how nicely this set up works..... Take care

Thanks Mitch... These were at ISO 500 and as you can see the noise level is acceptable as long as the shot isn't under exposed... I have been getting decent results at ISO 800 as long as I keep a close eye on the histogram..... The early 1D with 4 mega pixels is a gem at around a grand..... I'd say might be the best bargain there is in a Canon digital body of this caliber. ... Thanks again Mitch..... Take care...

Nice shots! I'd pick #1 as my fave because you can see the wings (and color on them).

Lovely series of shots Alex.
I'd guess a telephoto AF is a lot better or faster than a macro AF. Slight loss of detail I suspect compared to a macro lens shot.
