We had a guest speaker at our last photo club meeting...23 years old...spent last year in Europe on an honors program from the Rhode Island Institute of Design. She brought about 30 pictures that were her thesis. It took her two hours to try and explain her work, including a 30 minute dissertation on the significance of her mostly out of focus shot of a horse's tail. Perhaps it is just me...but if you have to explain your work...your work isn't very good.

Hey David, I was hoping to run into you. We're going to be up in your area next month if you want to get together at some point.

I'd love to try it. :D We do have some vacation planned for part of the month, though. I'm about to check out for the night, but if you PM me some dates, I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Are you sure it was the tail she was trying to comment on, and not the more general horse's ass? ;)

I need your advice. It's soon (in less than two months anyway...) my birthday. I'll have to decide what I ask for as a gift. I'm thinking of 2 things to use with my 100-400: a TC or a set of extension tubes... With which one would you go? Right now, I think I'll give the 2 and wait for the surprise ;-)a

I have to say that after she got all done...I was wondering who the horse's ass was that signed her up to speak.

I'm one of those shooters that sees a flahr and just shoots it...if someone were to ask me why...I would say because it looked cool to me...not because I saw in it the inner most sanctity of a child...perhaps one trying to hide their repressed fears of Faustian visions of Satan, but more likely a self-indulgent voyage of self-discovery about the greater meaning of pond scum on the moon.

Both tubes and teleconverters have benefits. I probably use them equally for my version of photography. In fact, I often use them in conjunction with each other. Put both on your list and be pleasantly surprised!
