And make sure you're using the correct datum (either NAD27 or NAD83/WGS/84).

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Thanks.

You might also check to see if there's a preference for working in degrees, minutes and seconds or decimal degrees. Oh, and IIRC South Lat. and West Long. are negative . . .

I checked but there were litteraly hundreds of different preferences just for the coordinate fomat.

This one (external link) Pat is buying it for me and bring it to Namibia. That way I save $470 compared to the price in Denmark.

Nice - I am looking at getting that one myself. When you get back from Namibia I would like to see a report about it :-)

Several birders in our Audubon chapter use GPS for logging sightings. Pretty cool way to go.

My main purpose is to record our route and tag photos with the gps position. Secondary is the actual navigation. We will mainly use paper maps.

well the olympus P&S came today...the underwater part is awfully fun  otherwise it's like most other p&s's...noisy after iso 100. It's image stabilization is mostly just boosting the iso to get a fast shutter speed, not true stabilization

the macro is quite nice

I did a nice biking tour (around 70km), bought some fuits from the local farmers (mmmhhhhhhhhh), saw a snake and a few storks and didn't take any photos (didn't take my camera with me :o )

At one point, I stopped to look at the map and the cow in the neighbouring field greeted me with the best MOOOOOOOOO you can do  I had to think of all of you ;-)a

Now, I'm gonna eat something and off to the fireworks...

wow that sounds like a typical boring day in Switzerland ;)

well I bought it mostly because Dan said (in view of my falling off boats frequently) that I couldn't take my MKIII on my aunt's boat w/o a housing  But when I do those trash the dress shoots, I want some underwater shots :)

Hearing all these Permie stories -- she's just planning ahead for the next time she falls in a lake/river/ocean/stream/puddle/etc. ;)

As for underwater focus -- is there a different minimum focus distance underwater?
