I had to quote this to get it to display....and it still isn't working...appears that smugmug has crashed now.
Lilacs are my favorite flower. Ours got snowed out and frozen this spring. I missed them. I had cultivated mine ofver last year and fertilized properly and the bushes were laden. They never got much of a chnce to bloom.
This is a lovely photo.
MMMMM- Chief's a hottie
This is awesome. Yeah, you could blend them but it is still a sweet shot.

It is the company that bought us out last year. They care more about the business aspect and are running the nurses here ragged. And patient care is suffering too because of the high volume of turnover. It is so sad to see this wonderful liitle place turn into just another hospital.
Mo, that sounds soooo familiar. Still, Just think of the new adventure! I hope you find something you LOVE!! and that loves you.

That is what really sucks about medicine...people that only see the bottom line and will use whatever methods they like to get there.
Wool, what's sad is that it is so widespread. MEdicine and education both are so counter to the business model. Admin and practitioners are after two different things and it is so tough!

I don't know Wool. I love birds but I'm tired of flight shots (unless they have interesting backgrounds)...though I still like to go watch them...but I'm just thinking my shots aren't very interesting. They don't grab me. I wondered if it's just because I don't "see" things...so I've been looking at a lot of other photographers work lately, viewing what they see (I've enjoyed the get togethers here in Oregon too because just looking at what people shoot differently when we're all together makes me realize that there's so much I don't see).....I think I understand the "nuts and bolts" but I'm just slumping creatively. I don't really know how to pull out of it. Last time I slumped it was because I couldn't get a bif shot...I pulled out of it by practicing for months until I got the hang of it...but now I'm at a loss as to what to practice? Does that make sense?
Sis- just get out and shoot an don't get in my predicament. see below

see, I really enjoy things like this:
http://www.pbase.com/dreamndigital/image/58909442
somewhat abstract, but I don't really ever "see" them when I'm out shooting and so have never shot any myself...but I'm drawn to them. And buildings, I love shooting old buildings (and really more, shooting the light in and through old buildings) but there aren't too many that aren't on private property. I guess I just need to search out some things to shoot.
That's a nice shot. We ned to get together for those buildings. I'm kinda sad that I nevre got the rock bridges or those derilict buildings inthe area shot.

Mooo all (and I voted

).
Permie -- Ideas for working on seeing (and something I need to continue to work on a great deal myself):
Shoot a scene. Find a subject within that scene to explore further. Find a subject within that element of the larger scene to explore further. Repeat until you've reached minimum focus distance, the edge of a cliff (added with you in mind, Lisa), or some other physical limitation. . .
You can do it with one lens and a foot zoom, or by going from wide angle to telephoto.
I tend to see bigger pictures, then see others who picked out a small part of my scene and like their shots better.

voted too!
Another thing to do is to shoot the same thing find ways to shoot from different angles. How does a worm see it?
do you havce the seeing creatively book. there are ideas there.
Sometimes I went out with the idea to shoot only one color, from one angle, anything- usually ended up shooting other things and feeling refreshed.
ANother trick that works for drawings and might for photography is find a way to see the scene from upside down. Might look funny, but it alters the way your brain perceives and you aren't labeling things, but seeing shape and light more. if you let yourself, unusual scenes pop right out at you.
