I'm sick and tired of Windows' failings (and I'm not just your average user either), but I also don't want to learn how to do all the complex tasks I do on a new operating system. So am I screwed?

"not being your average user" also means a lot of liability as I simply do not have time to re-learn all the tricks I use to get by. Some of the things I do can be extremely complex.

Also has anybody figured out how to get the Mac Mini to do dual monitor?

It was over two days. About 1,000 shots on the first day, 500 on the second. They soon get eaten up when cars are whizzing past you!

thought you only went for the day thats not soo bad then ;)

That inspires me. Maybe I'll go to the mall today and watch the little old ladies in their Buicks racing for the handicap parking stalls.

just my two cents the imacs are miles better than the minis (unless you wanna ram farm)

Thanks Zilly. The Matrox stuff is a joke. It's worse than buying a nice lens and putting a coke bottle filter on it.

mmm... 400mm - creamy goodness! I love my 400 - the only thing that would make it better is f/4 or IS or both :-D

Very nice!

Odd... I let my Windows machine go 2.5 years without a re-format - no viruses, no spyware, no errors, no warnings... Bogged down a lot towards the end, but it worked fine.

G'MAE everyone :-D (I thought everyone knew that too)

Both of my XP Home systems (laptop and desktop) are almost four years old. No re-format, no viruses, no spyware, no errors, no warnings, no bogging down...

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

you do know you have to remove a pc from the cardboard box

on average doing the same tasks the windows machines at college crash more than the macs ;)
we only have them so were familiar with both OS's and its easier to ram farm windows over macs

Yours has been the best advice so far. I may seriously consider the iMac. And to remember how we laughed so hard at the iMac when it first came out nearly ten years ago.
