I have a similar time out problem. She just seem to think up arguments while she's sitting there, lol. She is not allowed much TV or computer time anyway, so losing them doesn't seem to affect her that much because she knows how to deal with not having them. I might try the writing thing. I can see her sitting at the table yelling out "how do you spell insubordination and delinquent??"

LOL...I gave them dictionaries....:lol::lol:

seriously the paper thing worked well. They hated it but they ended up being very well read and they both write exceptionally well :) I was always sure to READ the paper before they were "let off" and when they were misbehaving, often reminded them that they were going to have to "write a paper" if they kept it up. Often, especially after they'd done it a few times, this was enough of a deterrent to stop them from whatever they were doing.

It's tilting to the left now.

Have you tried sitting up straight?;)

I have the 70-200 (w/tc if necc) or the 300 w/tc....which would you recommend? Prime or zoom?

Most Rodeos have a bit of a break between events. Take them both, I think the the prime would be very good if you can get a good angle on the barrel racers. Set a deep DOF and pre focus on the barrel then try to get the rider as they round the barrel. The zoom would be the better choice for the other events.

Becky, did you forget yer hat?

Forgot to take it off for that one scene. The scene is the engagement party and we are on stage as extras acting like we are gossipping about this Jekyll fellow. The girl next to me whispered "Lovely Hat", the expression on my face looked like I had just got the year's top gossip story, perfect for the scene. Stage experience told me not to reach for it, instead I used the knowledge to further gossipy attitude of my little grouping.:D We'll see tonight if the director decides to bring the matter to may attention. Probably not, what is done is done, the beauty of live theatre.

but I'm not willing to spend that much time de-noising a huge batch of photos.

But, you can do a batch at a time. One of the beauties of the program.

Gorgeous shot there Pete.

cylentka wrote in post #3620049 (external link)
Does Lightroom have noise reduction built in?

!!*#&*#) Yes, with default settings. I always have to reduce the settings on any batch I'm processing. Would rather reduce in other programs if it is necessary.

(on those times that they actually required a spanking) to wait until we weren't angry (the big rule in the house was to never spank when we were angry...then the spanking wasn't a "response" to their behavior but rather the result of....therefore they couldn't manipulate us by their behavior). She said she always knew she deserved a spanking (when she was going to get one) but hated waiting until we were calm enough to give it to her. Funny things that kids remember from their past......both ours have said that back then they'd rather have had a spanking than one of Dan's LONG lectures :lol:

^^^^yep what she said.

LOL...well neither of mine were. THE PAPER (said much like THE FOOTSTEPS OF DOOM) was something they hated to do so it was rare that they willingly undertook it. My favorite saying to them was "A + B = C...if you do this and you know you shouldn't, the results are this. It's not me punishing you, it's you choosing this result."

I am northern, I guess it looks like a small state to most, but it takes like 3 hours for me to drive to the southern part!

I'm not a parent but the thing I have noticed with my niece and nephew is that my sister is INCONSISTENT with her discipline. However, my parents, the grandparents are consistent. The kids are SO much more behaved when their parents are not around and they're with the G's. I think consistancy with discipline, either mental or physical, is what will make the biggest difference.

The thing my dad did was to always make me give him a hug after he'd spank me. Which is funny because once I got married I always want to give the wife a hug after we've argued.

I think I'm consistent. Sometimes I hate being consistent because I want to get on with things and not take time out for her time out or whatever.

At 6, she still has trouble finding words even in her little dictionary. Plus she would probably sit there half the day and READ the dictionary instead of writing the paper. But maybe I could keep a list of likely words handy for her to copy from.

i've never found logic to be a workable solution with children.
