But then, sometimes I've gone back over shots I took months ago and I find one I like now that I didn't think much of then. Weird.
I do that too, but not all that often. As long as a photo is fairly well exposed, or with a great subject I will keep it even if I have something better, you just never know. 
I did start going through all my shots from days past and being much more brutal with thinning them out, some are just not good enough that I would ever use them, on screen or in print. Some I have about 20 of the exact same subject, and really only need to keep the 2-3 best. I still have many thousand to screen though. That, and a few months worth of worthy ones that need some editing.
