In my budget, I could upgrade my Xt to a 30D or get a new lens : 10-20 sigma.

I prefer the viewfinder and to controls of the 30D, but I sill like the result on my Xt. The bigger viewfinder should help me to do better focus or see more what my AF is up too.

Does somebody here upgraded from a Xt to a 30D and would like to share his experience?

thx

I'm sorry for my bad english as always...

I have both.

The 30D makes a better photo. The 30D is easier to handle. It's bigger. The viewfinder is better but not by much.

My personal opinion.... Unless you *need* the facilities of the 30D over the XT (I did for weddings) then stick with the XT. The 40D is not many moons away anyhow.

I'd keep the XT and upgrade ur glass. I asked the same question last week and the best response was that "Bodies come and go but glass stays." So true. It was temping for me to get the 30d, but ultimately, i think ive decided to use it until it (A) dies, or (b) i get a FF camera.

If you're getting good results from your XT, then I'd get the glass. That being said, I upgraded my XT to a 20D a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier. IQ is very similar between the two, but the 20D is just easier/funner to use. I can't tell much difference in the viewfinder, and actually think I liked the AF point layout in the XT better (that will probably change as I get more used to the 20D).

thx for you input guys, I will get a lens instead.

I changed my mind, I will get a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro tomorrow morning! :D
I'm so exited!

There is a good photo store just next to my new job, so I don't know how I will manage to keep my money in my pockets!

Must like overlap somewhat.

I voted no, I would wait a little longer to see what the 30D upgrade is, see if 30D drops in price, and see if hordes put 30D up 2nd hand before I made that decision, and it is pretty soon I think as well, I know it is not easy waiting, but it will pay I think

I found the 9 points AF, ISO 3200, raw 5fps with 11 buffer, color setting, view finder, metering, body build and feel way better than XT... Also the custom function 16 "Safely shift in AV or TV" is incredibly useful while shooting indoor stage performance involve motions because lights are constantly changing in some situations.

In fact I used to own XT and 20D too.
However, I just changed to 30D recently because I needed the larger buffer size but not too much $ for a higher upgrade, I tried to believe 20D have no difference than 30D but it does after I used it for a month with 4k shots... worth the extra $100 to upgrade for extra few frames buffer, different color setting and a larger LCD.

It really depends on what you use ur camera for; speed vs different view range with glass

Rumor says 40D might come out in Sept, so 30D price might drop...

Yeah, but sigma 17-70 is a way better than the 18-55.

I just got my 70-300 and its a way more sharp at betwin 200-300 compare to my old one. (10 shots so far!)

And both sigma have the macro mode and I realy like this feature

Oh yeah
oh yeah
OHhhhhahhhhh yeeaaaahh!!!

I say wait a few weeks. If the rumours are right (and I know that they seldom are), the 30D's replacement may be coming out. It's worth looking at it to see what it's about before jumping into a new camera in my opinion.
