A Horse-Fly

Hiya All,

Caught this 'Horse-Fly' Tabanus sudeticus ( nasty biter ) sunning itself, it just stayed put long enough for me to et some shots off, but when I shot it's eye that was enough & it disappeared from the view finder, fortunately it didn't fancy a chomp on me

Wow, they are great shots. Real sneaky beggers that creep up on you!

So where is all this sun in sunny Devon then? I have been here since Saturday, just about settled in and my wellies are more on than off
Actually I'm house sitting for friends visiting relatives in the States. It's great countryside, near Barnstaple, but not many bugs around. Too wet I think.

I remember once many years back I was in the woods ' Brashing ' with my top of & it was one of the few times I've been bitten to hell & back all H F Bites.

Round here these swines seem to lay up in the grass waiting to get you right in the back of the knee, I'd rather play with my Wasps any day compared to these.

These blighters are sneaky swines, most folks only see em as they fly off having just given you a nasty bite, I think these are the quietest fly alive just like the S.B.S. in quiet, job done & away

i use to get bit by them all the time when i'm down the jersey shore fishing for seatrout. leave you with a pretty good welt. nice one though.
