This is a female. Knapweed is a great nectaring plant for meadow butterfies, and if they're a bit skittish to sudden approach you can often just hang around a few of these flowers and let the butterflies come to you. Marbled whites love them, although I don't recall blues using them before. Like Alby I think shot 1 is the better pic. Very nice.
