Dumb question (how to set for long exposure with remote)

Ive got a 350D and i just bought one of those remote dealies where u can push the button down or have it left all the way down to keep the shutter open all the time....how do i set the camera up so the shutter stays open depending on the remote?

Put the camera in Tv mode and turn the shutter speed down until you see: BULB.
