.. like the one you can buy from Roxsen on ebay (which many people here recommended).

How exactly do you guys take this off of the lens once it's on? The only way I'm able to is pry it loose with a flat edged screwdriver. Now it's all chipped. :(

It's the same as the Canon version. Simply turn the locking knob counterclockwise until it hits its "bump-stop", then pull it outwards and it releases the entire grapple. Fairly easy. Why are you using a screwdriver?! :(

See the knob here...and simply turn it (counterclockwise to loosen) and pull out:

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. Even with the knob fully turned in the loose position it's still impossible to pull it free. When it's not on the lens I can push the non knob side down as I pull it away to open it up but when it's on the lens I can't push the non knob side down, so instead I have to pry the knob side upwards as I pull the non knob side away.

:(

I hope that made sense.

Ugh. Thanks, guys.

Was there a lot of damage to the shell of the lens? Let's see it...

Oh nono, there wasn't any damage to the lens. The only thing that got damaged was the tripod ring (it just got scratched a bit). I wouldn't have tried to pry it off if I knew it was going to damage the lens. I would have kept it there for all of eternity if that was the case! I'm not that stupid. :)

Thanks again, guys.

LOL. You said, "The only way I'm able to is pry it loose with a flat edged screwdriver. Now it's all chipped." So I thought you were meaning the lens itself. I thought, "What an di@t (INVALID EMAIL)!" :D

Glad it was only the collar
