I wanted to post this to let people know that B&H are negotiable if you are doing large orders. :p

We have finished placing our first large order with B&H. Our order total was 21k and we promissed them about 5x that much over the course of the year, obviously not under contract.

We obviously did not pay full price for it. I will not say what our savings were on each individual lens. Our average savings for Canon lenses turned out to be about 5-6% lower than what I could find cheapest (from reputable dealers) on sites like pricegrabber and froogle. Hope this helps some one. The Nikon prices are still being negotiated, so far the savings are nothing at all.

Since you can't say, we'll speak hypothetically.

Say I were to place an order for say 3 300 2.8's. I could perhaps save around $250-300 per lens?

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind next time I spend $21 grand in one clip.

Tomorrow starts the DV Video Expo in NYC - and if I'm a betting woman I would bet the ranch there will be new special promo codes.

I also plan to talk to my friends at the canon setup - usually there are some V.P. around - you just have to look for the suits.

Considering my interest does not lie in video, of course not. ;)

last year i ordered video gear (around 11K) and got additional 3.5% off. The first time i tried, the sale guys said he couldn't. I called back and talked to another guys and he asked his manager and it was approved for additional disc. I used psmay code too.

so yes, they do give out disc but with large order only. btw, they also disc on shipping charge (like free upgrade to next day with 3days price)

Sounds like a good idea, but would be incredibly risky.

group buy anyone? It would be very interesting if we all bought 30K worth of gear together. Very plausible as well. haha.

good idea, but I seem to remember the attempted group buy for pelengs that when into the crapper, I'm not sure a 30k order would go much better.

Well it might go better since it is BH and not some russian company. Also, we should probably have a mod or other well trusted person do the order.
