Evening folks,

Hope all is well in POTN land this great evening. I have a quick question to try to help a fellow co-worker.

My friend; a fire chief is looking for a secure way to use EXIF data to preserve his photo's for later possible litigation and investigation purposes on the fire ground.

Somewhere in the past I recall seeing some software that would show that the image has indeed not been tampered or otherwise changed since it was taken.

Do any of you know of any such EXIF program which would hold up in court if questioned? Of course this would depend that the settings in the camera are correct, but also something to show that the image has been unedited and is as was taken.

Thanks for your help.

Kenny

I know that, at least around here, that crime scene photos are still shot using film so that the original image/negative cannot be altered in anyway.

I know Canon sells a data verification 'thingy' (external link) for the 1D series.
That might be what he's looking for?
