Ok, assuming both are priced about the same plus or minus a few bucks, which would be the better overall. Looking to pick up a P&S, not interested in the G7 as there is no RAW capability. Thoughts?

I had a G6 and took it back to get the Pro1. The Pro1 has better glass (by a fair margin) and wider angle lens plus longer glass. The Pro1 is built like a tank compared to the G6. It is a better camera, IMO. I still use the Pro1 as the backup to my dSLRs.

If you can find a pro1, get it. I missed the change to get a mint condition for $200 and am regretting it. The G6 is still a very good camera, but the pro1 is build better, better L glass, wider and more telephoto, better grip w/ adj wheel and my favorite, it is a magnesium body.

I own a Pro1 - excellent camera. It is a little clunky to carry around all day though.

I have had a Pro 1 for 3 years now and it has been into the shop once. After carrying around my 5D with the 70-200 lens, the Pro 1 feels like a teeny camera ;) But it really takes great photos and also boasts an L lens.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Don't disagree with this at all - I have all the same stuff.

The Pro1 is a GREAT camera but it isn't as portable as a G7 and there are no underwater enclosures available for it.

The Pro1 is my backup to my dSLRs.
