1st macros

I had posted these in a different thread but would like C&C.

Both cropped and Sigma 17-70. The second one was taken after I noticed the bee on another weed flower. It is oof but I was afraid he would fly away if I took the time to change the f stop. I just include it to show the size of the flower.

Both: Weed=1/250, f7, iso 100- 70 mm

They both look out of focus to me, Jack.

Shame you missed the focus Jack. Keep at it, they do move off from flower to flower pretty quick sometimes.

They move a lot don't they. Out of focus and over exposed.
Don't give up we all start with bad shots.

I used the ef with these and they were hand held. I just got a tripod and am going to use that next time. Out of focus or dof?

Holy cr@p!!! Talk about night and day!!! The shot with the tripod is beautiful! Nicely done! As for your first shots they are much like my first macro shots. It takes a lot of practice. You have obviously made progress in leaps and bounds. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more.

#1 & 2 look very grainy - did you do a lot of work in PS on them? #3 is beautiful and lacks the graininess!

In the first 2, they looked so bad that I attempted to improve"?" them, don't remember what I did except a whole lot of sharpening, just reaching. The last one, just cropped and upped the saturation a little, nothing else. I am not that familiar with CS2 to do much. I found I had to get back further in order to focus. I used both af and mf and didn't see any difference. I just backed up until I could focus OK. I like the tripod but it can be awkward.

i'm still doing bad shot keep it up only can get better.

Someone once said that the difference between a professional photographer and an amateur is that the professional only shows the good ones. I wouldn't mind betting that most here have success rates of less than 25% and going even lower the closer they get, so take lots of shots and throw away the bad ones.

Throw away that many? Almost all of mine!!!!
