I dragged my boyfriend out to play with my camera and some left over Sparklers from the 4th of July. I had an idea and it turned out like this...

Looks like you've got yourself this year's Christmas card!

Nice.

Please answer the questions above. Thanks.

Ok I'm still new at learning the technical stuff on this, so don't kill me! =)

I have a Cannon Rebel Xti. The lens I used is a EFS 18-55mm.
I had my "Tv" Setting at 5", ISO at 100, Flash, a tripod..and a sister to push a button Lol =)

Tv is your shutter speed — 5 seconds. I'm guessing you had it set to shutter priority. What was the aperture?

question: how are the people in your shot so sharp when they were waving their arm in a 5" exposure?

thats the beauty of flash. they people are grossly underexposed without the flash. the flash freezes them for a split second. Its a great idea. funny thing is I just posted the same thing, but did not think of using the flash. I dont know how you managed to write out so perfectly. I tried it many times. it did not work. look at my "Bye" thread.

You should meter the model, not the sparkler. There should be no reason you couldn't shoot your firey friend in the dark while using a flash. The remaining 4.9 seconds would simply be to expose the sparkler. Still never heard what the ap was though. I'm guessing it was a mid range because the background is somewhat in focus.
