Greetings here are some of my photos from the Boston NPPL last weekend. It was really nice to see so many people from this forum shooting at this event. It was a very media unfriendly event because they severely limited access to the professional field. Much to my surprise even I had some trouble getting on to the field

Great set of shots. Nothing is better than watching Lang get bunkered.

good shots, and its GREAT to hear you got on the field. After hearing what happened with the NPPL vs MWAG I didn't expect much outside media coverage.

I am loving that Aftermath shoot too...kinda the Gary signature shoot (that I gotta steal!).

Great seeing you there Gary, I was not to concerned with getting on the main field but even I ended up with a pass to hang with the big boys.

So what was the drama with not letting people on field? What did MWAG have to do with it?

Aha, I finally found you! Whatever convinced you to get a 300mm f/2.8L IS? Is that kind of a junker lens? :-) [For those not at the Spyder Cup 2007, Gary took mine and walked onto the field of battle with the $4000 beast and I couldn't get it back from him. When he finally gave it up he whined at me for addicting him!] But that's OK 'cause now I'm waiting for B&H to have some 1D MIII's so I can get one or two since Gary now swears by them!

Nice captures! And the balls actually look like they break rather than just causing deep bruises.

Great shots. I was invited to tag along with a couple of other photographers from the area to go up to Boston, but judging from the trouble that you had getting on the field, I'd have had no chance.

"I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside." --Mitch Hedberg

RC:

Getting on "a field" was no problem. It was getting on the main field (we call it center court). The NPPL had Fox Sports filming for a new paintball show that is for later in the year. I guess they felt like they could get better video without 30 photographers standing sholder to sholder. There was only 10 passes for the main field and they had been reserved for the magazines, so basicly only the top 10 paintball photographers got on the field. The problem with that was we could only shoot from one side of the field and after about 11am it was the side with the sun right in your face.

Dwight:

Yes sir that paint breaks on anything it touches, a big step up from a few weeks ago (wow has it been that long?). People are still talking about that paint, it was the worst paint any of us have ever seen in a "major" tournie.

No rest for the wicked...I shot a clinic last Saturday and have events set for the next three weeks....back to the field.

I am sure those shots are not the best he got, we will just have to wait a few weeks and look in the magazine. Mine are all locked with them now and I will post the leftovers here.

Damn, paintball photographers being treated like concert photographers ... how low can you go? :-)
