How to backup Cr2 files without loosing Lightroom data?

I have to backup my photos (CR2 files) on DVDs.

But I dont want to loose my colors I made in lightroom.

I can I do that?

You will have to set up Lightroom to 'automaticly write changes into XMP' (edit/preferences/ click the 'go to catalogue settings' button and then check the box), then when you save or move the cr2 files you have to have the associated XMP file with it.

Do as I (and many others) do and convert your cr2 files to DNG, these files contain the XMP data within the actual file itself and do not need the seperate XPM files to 'tell' the raw file about changes.

I do however back-up my original cr2 files to a seperate folder at the time of downloading to the PC using Downloader Pro.
