There are several reports on DPReview that claim improved MicroDrive performance and even improved AF performance after installing the new firmware. Perhaps Canon has included additional fixes without telling us, or maybe these people are exaggerating. Please post any "additional improvements" you experience after installing your firmware.

D30. What a beautiful piece of equipment! I did a quick scanned of the manual, charged the battery.

Having read some of these forums, I was aware of the new firmware 1.0.1.0; so I downloaded and installed it as one of my first priorties.

Second, since I already downloaded BreezeBrowser and had it ready to go, I downloaded the Canon's USB Twain 3.6.1 to ensure the best compatibility.

I then installed ZoomBrowser EX 2.4 and its related programs. I never got a flag to install the Twain 3.4, so I assume it knew that the latest version was already on my machine.

Took some stunning pics from around the hacienda (I live in the mountains of Colorado) and uploaded into both Zoom and Breeze. Looks great!

Wow! So much to learn

Any other patches or modifications I should be aware of?

DanS, did u just get the camera recently? It did not come with the latest firmware?

I got mine 3 weeks ago, and it came with 1.0.1.0 already installed - think I got the new batch from Japan. Hopefully they silently fixed other things as well - I did not find the auto focus slow! :)

Correct. I purchased 7/2 (rec'd 7/3) through edigitalstop.com @ $2,399 to insure American warranty and a valid coupon redemption for 340MB Microdrive and extra battery. I followed Canon's directions to the letter for both camera and lens coupons as well as used USPS Certified.

The camera box contained a slip indicating that the Auto Power-Off function had been corrected, but when I checked the firmware version, it hadn't been updated. Just followed directions and the update was a snap.

I too have no complaints about either AF or shutter speed into the buffer. Fast for this newbee! I had my wife take some shots and her 'lead finger' fired off several quick, appropriately focused pictures in succession. Thank goodness for digital and 1GB Microdrives.

You mention "other things". Is there something I'm not aware of or are you speculating that 1.0.1.0 may have addressed multiply issues?

Hmm....my package did not contain such a notice. I stay in Singapore and that's where I bought it - no rebate or microdrive offer too.......it's the equivalent of US $2388....

I was speculating ;P
