Here's a common darter from my local pond on thursday the sun came out
so I made the most of it spent all day out
the darters have started showing in more numbers now hopefully we will get a break in the weather so they get a chance to breed

They much prefer warm sunny days with little or no wind, both to fly/feed and find their mate. The weather in the UK since the beginning of May has been somewhat inclement with just a few brighter spells inbetween. I have concerns for the reproduction of dragonflies in the UK this summer and suspect that in the next 2 to 3 years we may see a huge decline in numbers for the year of their emergence. http://lindabuckell.zenfolio.com/
