I found locally a used Canon Pro9000 for $300... I am really tempted to buy it.
I am trying to decide between the Pro9000 and the Epson R1800 off the refurb site.
Here is what is holding me back:
Paper
I guess Canon works best with the Canon paper, but the Canon paper is mostly glossy, I like matte/lustre. I would like to use the Ilford Pearl and from the looks of a few threads here, that won't be TOO big of a deal...
Epson has better paper support, but the ink clogging/wasting issues that have been brought up scare me a bit...
In terms of Pigment vs. Dye --- I don't care too much... The Chromalife (or whatever it is called) Dye ink of the Canon is supposed to be better than the normal Dye ink...
Price.... $300 vs. $350 -- not that big of a deal...
I will primarily print in color, but B&W here and there won't be out of the question...
The R2400 is out of my price range, so is the Canon 9500...
Thoughts?
