It's a nice composition and the exposure looks on. You should straighten the horizon line (rotate ccw 1.24ยบ). I also added a bit of unsharp mask in Photoshop. Was everything really that yellow?

Thanks. I find that nature pictures do better with a slight degree of blur ... rather than sharpness // Max

Nice image, Max. I also was struck by the strong amber cast to the image. Was that a purposeful statement on your part, or an accident?

I like the image. It's a nice environmental portrait for those of us who rarely get to the deep South and her swamplands, and the boat adds a nice slice of scale to the scene.

Sharpness vs softness is always going to be a subjective issue. The whole current rage in nature photography, of course, seems to be this obsession with sharpness, which is played out on the pages of POTN over and over again ad nauseum with threads like "Is this lens sharp enough or do I have a soft copy?"

Blur can be a vital part of an image, and I like this slight softness.

Very nice image here and I saw the edited version first as the first image did not open right away. Joel is absolutely right about the subjectiveness of soft vs sharp. For me the edited version works best.
