1. Out at my favorite lagoon and I approached a lone osprey surviving the lagoon from atop an old dead tree.

2. Suddenly taking off and diving into the tidal channel right next to me and stuggling to take off again. If you look closely you can see the head of a hugh mullet pulling against the weight of the bird.

3. It was not to be, the fish was too big to fly away with. So one foot hooked into the mullet and other to push it self along to the exposed mud flats.

4. Its attempts to lift off the flats were unsuccessfull. The mullet was just too heavy.

5. Continued to drag the fish along the flats to the highest ground it could find.

6. Finally gave up and decided to eat it there, both the fish and bird covered with mud.

Fantastic Series Dennis! Both the bird and the fish look a bit worse for wear. Really wonderful behavior shots..

Great series! It's really great to watch nature taking its course and I thank you for bringing a bit of it here for us to enjoy.

Great set Dennis. this is what I like about Ospreys. They get right in there and come up with the goods. They always put on a great show. :)
