I know this lens is not the best for soccer shots. That's all I have so I have to make do. I do not take sports photos too often so I normally use the sports mode on my 350D. I find this option too restrictive and the results are not to my liking. MInd you, could also be inexperience user 
I'd like to venture into M or TV mode but don't know where to begin. Centre AF, ISO, aperture, shutter speed.
I managed to get 2 keepers out of 5-6 shots. Both had the ball in frame...really hard to do that 
I'm back there on the field this Friday again hoping for some improvement shots of my nephew.
