Hi guys

I'm back from holidays and I have to start working again. And National XC MTB championships, was one of first assignments after 3 weeks of exploring Southwest USA with 4x4 and tent.

So here's few MTB photos.

Winner in Women Elite category, and current Juniors World champion Tanja Zakelj (since this year she's riding in U23 category and not Juniors category, she can't be wearing rainbow jersey).

Well I guess this is all for now. I hope you will enjoy them. And as always... sorry for watermarks, but photos are straight from our online archive.

Take care, Primoz

I can't believe you were in the American southwest and never called me! Nice shots ... cross country is much more exciting than crits!

Sorry, I will try to be better next time I'm around those places :)
Otherwise I agree... xc is much more interesting then criterium road races. With normal road races you have at least some chances for nice photos, with crits in middle of city you don't have much chances. And xc is mostly out in nature, so no crappy backgrounds with houses and fences. But there's much more money in road racing then in mtb... even for photographers, not just for cyclists.

What lens did you use for no 5 as the front wheel looks oval.
Good pictures all showing some action by the riders.

A bit (more) fill flash might have been nice on #1 and 2 in particular...

I was shooting with 2 lenses only... 300/2.8 and 17-40/4 and #5 is with 17-40 on 17mm (plus 1.3x of 1dmk2).

Maybe after the first they pointed out how flash ruined the ambiance! :-) Just kidding. I will be shooting road races in early August (http://bikebarn.net/page.cfm?PageID=203 (external link)) and will take flash!

Wow, such nice shots! I really miss XC racing. Ive won a few races in my day:p
I really like the 2nd to last one with the weeds in the way, the rider looks gassed, and thats a money shot!
Nicely done.
