Whats everyone's opinion on this lens? I'm heading on a trip soon, and do alot of carshow photography as well. The 18mm that the kit lens gives is just not wide enough.

I'm looking to do some city photography, and keep this lens with me in my bag for car shoots.

If there's a decent amount of light then you should be fine with this lens. I only just got mine the other day and I'm loving it. Such a well built lens. Optically it's really good. I've seen better but there isn't much in it. I preferred my Sigma 10-20 over the Canon 10-22. The Sigma felt like it was better built and optically they are really similar. The Canon does have the extra stop though which I think would have been handy.

The Sigma is f/4-5.6 where as the Canon is f/3.5-4.5

So not a full stop, still faster though :p

With such wide angle lenses, where you can hand hold the lens at about 1/16 sec's without worrying about camera shake, max aperture of f3.5 vs f4 is really trivial at best.

Canon is a great lens, Wigma is a great lens.
As the wise Rodney King once asked, "Can't we all just get along?"
