Hello,
I've tried searching the forum but I can't seem to find an answer to this...if anyone has a comment, I'd really appreciate it!
I have a rebel xti and the RAW file size averages around 8MB.
Converting the raw file to JPG using Canon's DPP leaves a file around
6MB saved at 300DPI. Using CS2 and Camera Raw to convert the RAW file
(which I prefer to use), saves as a jpeg at a file size of about
2MB at 300 DPI. Is CS2 camera raw compressing the image more than DPP
and is it affecting the image quality? Now I'm getting worried about
the image files that I'm sending to my printer to be processed as prints.
The RAW file size is 2592 x 3888, 10.1MP. When I open the RAW files in CS2,
on the bottom left hand corner of the screen, I have it set for the
same size "2592 x 3888 10.1MP", Adobe RGB, 8 bits/channel and 300dpi,
to convert to JPG. After it converts them to JPG files, they're
the same pixel size, 2592 x 3888, but they're just under 2MB.
When I use the Canon DPP software to convert my RAW images, they come out to the same size "2592 x 3888" but they're about 7.8MB.
Will this affect prints (especially poster size 16x20 up to 30x40) or what am I missing or doing incorrectly in CS2?
Thanks so much!!!!
