Epson R1800 or Canon PIXMA Pro9000 or "other @Poll@

Which professional level photo printer do you use? If it is "other", please let us know and also how well do you like it?

I just saw another thread about the Epson R1800. It seems like an awesome machine. This weekend, I spend quite a few hours deciding what printer to buy and it came down to these two. I ended up buying the Canon PIXMA Pro9000, but can't even recall why now. It should arrive this morning via overnight shipping.

I have a week or so to return it if I don't like it. So, I am soliciting opinions here, please feel free to rate any of these or other printers if you have any actual experiences with them. Thanks.

I am interested in this as well - I guess they are both great printers... Grrr... it is tough!

It looks like others also own the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 but they didn't leave any comments. The Epson does look nice, and it is less costly, I just hope the Canon does me well. I'll read the review on the HP now.

IMHO, neither of these are actually "pro" printers,.
They are excellent top quality printers for use in applications other than a printshop..

Since my first Canon BCI-6 ink printer I have been attached to them.
Faster, quieter and with less issues than anything else I have used.

I think the "Pro" designation is a title given by the manufacturers simply for identifying the line. Like the Pro1 Canon camera, not really a "pro" camera. They could have, and should have in order to be more candid, called them something like, eight color printers, or some other designation. I don't think many people consider these to be professional printers, which should maybe be reserved for actual print shops that use equipment costing many thousands of dollars each.

I use the "old"i9900and prints beautiful 13 x 19 prints. I've never had any problems with it .

Mines even "older" with the i9100, same print sizes as it's replacement the i9900, but only 6 inks (pre-dates the new R and G colors)
It has served me well for 4 years now.
The only thing that made me upgrade was the 3x cost 17' wide IPF5000
