What if it came into the store in a million pieces? Would they still send it out first? Or just replace it on the spot?
As a Ritz employee, I've only been allowed to replace a camera on the spot once. The qualifications? Completely clean, no impact/water damage, fresh batteries in the camera, just wouldn't power on. More importantly, the camera was in stock.
Of course, I had one I couldn't replace on the spot earlier this week. The camera was dropped in water (it was actually still spilling water and sand on the counter) with definite impact damage on the screen. Also, we didn't have it in stock.
In theory, we have a valid reason for this. What keeps you from intentionally destroying your camera at the end of the warranty (I'm not referring to any professional photographers, because most wouldn't do this) just to get a new one?
