I'm just curious how many MPE65 users use the hood with this lens? I am also interested in knowing whether you feel this hood is useful.

I use the hood 100% of the time. It serves as a protector to protect the front element. It also reduce the flare created when using with the MT-24EX, IMHO.

I use a hood all the time with my 100mm f/2.8 but with the MP-E 65 f/2.8 a hood just gets in the way. I find there is barely enough working distance between the lens and subject as it is, then with a hood it would make it even harder to get enough light to the subject.
I really prefer hoods but with this lens the filter wins ;)

John - I thought the hood would get in the way before I used it, but I found that my MT-24EX is the one would get in the way. :)
